What is a Calorie Calculator?

A calorie calculator estimates how many calories your body needs each day. It uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation to calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), then multiplies by an activity factor to get your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).

How to Use This Calorie Calculator

  1. Enter your age, sex, height, and weight.
  2. Select your activity level.
  3. Choose a goal: maintain, lose, or gain weight.
  4. Click Calculate to see your daily calorie target.

How It Works

BMR (Mifflin–St Jeor): Men = 10w + 6.25h − 5a + 5; Women = 10w + 6.25h − 5a − 161 (w = kg, h = cm, a = years). TDEE = BMR × activity factor.

Example Calculation

A 30-year-old woman, 165 cm, 60 kg, moderately active: BMR ≈ 1,320 kcal; TDEE ≈ 2,046 kcal/day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many calories should I eat to lose weight?

A common guideline is to eat about 500 kcal less than your TDEE to lose roughly 0.5 kg (1 lb) per week.

Is the Mifflin–St Jeor formula accurate?

It is one of the most accurate general formulas, but individual needs vary. Treat the result as an estimate.
